Well so far the conversations with Jason seem promising...seem being the key word here. However I am still wary of the wording in allowing our RPG's. I know that i'm going to continue to be skittish untill we have-without a doubt-consent to keep the Org game, the Quest when I get it running again, and the RPG's we have for ceremonies and each regiment. Those are the main reasons I have stuck with the band for as long as I have (well that and my addiction to the people here). in a perfect world Jason would say that we can have whatever we wanted on these sub-domains. But alas in a perfect world we would be able to keep things here as they have been.

Tay... I might be able to script something to take the copied text and put it into a file that can be imported... let me check to see what smf can do before we start thinking manual transition.

If we have to do manual transition, then I will make sure everything is in place and ready to work, so all you guys have to do is sign up. That means checking all possible hitches, and I'll use Senior Staff and Regimental Staff as guinea pigs. A bit like how I was used by Fader on the phpBB DM7 boards. But I'll check that is ok with Jason. I suspect it will be.
And Vorkia, the ORG Game is staying with us. It's a Band activity, and having shown what it involves to both Kath and Owen/WhiteWolf, they are happy for it to stay with us. And to be honest, it doesn't really fit in with Revolutions/ToW board.

YAY! We get to keep the game *does a cartwheel--poorly might I add*
Well there goes my one true gripe :S

I know it seems sort of pointless as only the bigshots have a real say, but just out of curiosity can we get some sort of band wide consensus?
PS-Id like to add that despite what some may have said on DM I at least am with the MG, and my CG, and whatever they decide. At least a few of the band are with me on that.

Once we've finished our Q&A session with Jason, I'll probably put a motion forward asking you what you want to do. The reason I will do it after Jason has answered our questions is because then we will have the bigger picture with all our concerns having been addressed. That, to me, seems the most logical step forward after the Q&A session.
My overall feeling is that we will stay with DM since we are being talked to about the issue, instead of being forced into it. However, nobody is going to take away my unhappiness over the handling of the issue though.

Below is the latest email from Jason. I hope the block quoting is easy to understand who said what. If it isn't, then Jason's first reply to my original email is the inserted quote within the quote. Ok, I'm a slimeball for taking so long to reply. It's not cause I don't care. I simply just don't get a chance to put long, unbroken thoughts together. But my kid's down for a nap right now so I'm going to give it a shot. Yes, absolutely! You can defintely go and set things up in advance first before the hoards decend upon the forums. Actually, I would encourage that. You can do things as you see fit (within reason of course), and Matalina would be the person to help you with the technical stuff. Unfortunately at this time, changing large scale graphics like that is not an option. However... one of my long terms goals for DM is to be able to offer different stylesheets and a user can select whatever color scheme they like when visiting DM. Well I'm not trying to get you to "suck up and accept" anything. What specific guidelines are you concerned about? Give me some examples and let's find a middle ground. My gut tells me that we can pretty easily come to an agreement on what is acceptable and what is not. It is my humbled opinion that failures to communicate are responsible for the great, vast majority of problems in this world; both common and everyday, all the way up to global and tragic. I try very hard in my personal life to be an open communicator, and I realize that, due to simple time constraints, I have sometimes failed to openly communicate with the people at DM who need to know. So... if you continue to make efforts to communicate with me, I will do my best to reciprocate. These emails are good. Until Google makes the perfect free solution. Awesome. We're making good forward progress then. Glad the new server is working better for you. I think I said it before, but long term I do intend to get multiple servers setup. Cool. First off... good for you for buying a Mac. I work with all types of computers every single day, and the Mac products are by far the best overall computers these days. If you are new to making websites, just start with iWeb. You'll make a great site for the Band! I would love to have you make a website for your ORG and host it on DM. I will be happy to guide your through the process. And if you do it, other Orgs are sure to follow. I could see the Band leading the way in this effort. (Take that, White Tower Org!) Let's talk about this in a separate email. I definitely have plans that you guys could help us with. I'll look over the site and give you some feedback. I know you're not big into blogs, but they really are great for the sort of thing you're doing. Jason

Not yet, but that is because I have been busy the last few weeks, with an exam referal and trying to find a housemate. One has been done, and the other is coming to an end. Hopefully by the end of this week, or early next week when I am back in London until Christmas, I will be on the case again.

heres my 2 cents worth.
Declare war on DM admins make them pay for ever trying to get rid of the offsites. the offsites are our home and i understand their concern about loosing ppl for the offsites but make some of the stuff we do here and move them over there then it keep some of the activity up over there so they cant complain as much.
sorry about spelling mistakes if there are any. but the offsites are outr homes and we want to stay private.
We shall not b moved, We shall not b moved, We shall not b moved, We shall not b moved, We shall not b moved,We shall not b moved.
but if my CG and org leader require me to move i might move

unfortunately, declaring war on the admins only has two possible outcomes: removal of key staff from the org as punishment, or the Band opting to leave DM.

How bad would the latter be hypothetically?

that would depend both on what we did as a group (ie if we joined another site, were on our own, etc), and how united as a group we were in the split. If we vote to split, but only do so with just over half of the band in support, we could possibly lose a lot of members. Also if we did NOT go to another site, it would be a bit harder for us to sustain members.
Bottom line... if a split ever happened, it would need some strong support to have a positive impact.

Then either way it really comes down to a vote.
