Very encouraging.. enlightening too. 3. Private Regimental Boards ... not asking about the websites... yet. Yes, I too am greatly encouraged by that email. Manny, if we can create usergroups, it seems to me it would be fairly reasonable to get an actual usergroup for "Cavalry" and "Archers," etc. To make boards private, it will likely be like the Campfires- only those we want to see it will see it, and maybe even no more passwords to memorize.

Yeah that was one of the pros of joining, that all this hassle with putting in a password for every darn board will be gone while keeping the boards specialized and private none the less

Actually Footy, I don't see the difference for Hornsounder as it is now. You all submit your pieces and I puzzle them all together, edit, take out spelling, put in the graphics, ettc etc etc. It's not just a matter of moving everything from one board to another, there's quite a bit more involved than that.
Since the loss of the published HS in March due to that hickup that caused us to loose a week's worth of posts, I have created a backup system where I keep a copy of all the published HS's. It is also my work area for the actual editting before publishing it on DM. As I use an aproximation of the colorscheme of the (now old) DM boards there that allows me to testdrive each Edition before publishing it so that when the final version becomes available, the DM members see it as it should be.

I'll behave... but I don't know if I can be nice... not sure I can do that - might be out of my range of acting!

That makes sense boss.. I knew there was a way, just not smart enough to know which way!

That's good, I'm also very encouraged by Jason's response (both to Corki and at DM) and the fact that he's going to take time to come and speak to us all personally. I also appreciated his clarification on the financial issues which were slightly more extensive at DM than in the email.
My concerns still remain but hopefully now we will get some concrete answers as it seems to me we're still talking in a lot of generalisations.
1) Everyone's getting very keen on the sub board idea... and yet, in other places its been stated that this idea is still in no wayguaranteed. So I'd suggest slowing down a bit until there's definite confirmation. As others have said, I await the "guinea pig" trials with interest.
2) Froix, no-one said we could keep the light RP here. Horn PM'd Kath about it and what she said was that we could continue to do it at a low level for the moment on any possible sub domain. But she also reserved the right to change her mind further down the line. I find that caveat worrying. I don't think she really has any concept just how much RP we actually do. In my response from Jason originally, he and Owen both mentioned the Revolution One board being for that purpose. Again, that wouldn't work for the stuff we do which is not only Band specific but private.. for instance the BM testing, bandings, the Org Game etc I don't know about anyone else but I don't want to do that in some unrelated board so I would appreciate some further clarification and some definite promises on what we can actually still do.
3) Given that we appear to have established beyond any doubt that data from proboards can not be easily transferred from here to any new sub domain/site.... I hope you are ALL prepared to do a LOT of copy and paste work. Starting with blank boards and adding only what is most important (stickies etc) seems to me the best route to take. That way all of our other stuff remains here for easy access. That's still a huge amount to be manually transferred.

Picking up on point 2...I have spoken with WhiteWolf/Owen about it, and he asked where I would prefer such things, after showing examples. I said I wasn't happy for it to be on Revolutions/ToW, as it didn't fit in with what that board is for.
As for point 3, we'll discuss what things need to go over, and who exactly will be doing that. I do believe that if and when the transfer should happen, I'll be on my megafast broadband again, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem (especially the important threads anyway).
But we will reach that hurdle when we have to jump it.
As for Jason coming here, it was a bit of a surprise, but I hope we will all appreciate the time he is willing to spend with us. Let's make that time constructive, so that both sides end up with an agreement that everyone likes.

As for accounts, it would be nice, but it's never going to happen. If we should find out it financed his filming company, there would be complete and utter outcry at DM. I don't think we will ever know. Psst... I know a guy. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Now that I've gone back and read on this a bit, I'd just like to say that the inefficiency of the planned "Consolidation," as I believe it's being called, rivals some major record labels that I've dealt with. Spectacular in its awfulness. And how bout that name? "The Consolidation?" It sounds more like some program run by a police state.
