After the discussion in this thread regarding making the Captain-General position permanent, I am opening up applications for Banders to take on the role of being the permanent Captain-General of either the Archers, the Cavalry or the Infantry. This is happening to allow someone the chance to get the three Regiments growing again, and 6 months should be a long enough period of time for the task. At the end of the 6 months, we shall review the situation to decide whether we stay put at permanent Captain-Generals, or decide to switch back to the 2 month rotating policy.
The positions of Lieutenant-Generals, Banner-Generals, Redarms and RLOs will remain temporary on a 2 month basis. The Captain-General will pick those who they want to act as Lieutenant-General, Banner-General, Redarms and RLOs of the Regiment.
So, are you interested in being the Captain-General of your Regiment? Are you up to the challenge of leading fellow Banders and creating a strong Regiment within the Band? Do you think you have the responsibility? I know there is a thread relating to further information about being a Captain-General, but please ignore this as I am about to outline what I am looking for in an application.
Requirements
- You need to be active to warrant such a position. Missing the odd day is fine, but not huge chunks (more on LoAs and inactivity below)
- You need to be productive. You need to come up with ideas that will keep all current Regiment members active, ideas that Regimental members will participate in, also make new members join through the Raw Recruit System and maybe get a few older, less active members back. This needs to be done both at DM and on the off board sites.
- You will need to produce a monthly activity report for the Marshal-General detailing what has happened in the Regiment during the month. It only needs to be a paragraph, and it shall be added to the monthly ORG Report the Marshal-General submits to the DM Staff board.
Aims of the Captain-General
- to keep activity up and participation high within their Regiment, making sure that everyone is involved, and feels part of the Regiment.
- to be a role model for the Regiment. How you behave while leading could influence how your Regiment works, and even the Band.
- to organise how your Regiment participates in the Band's Monthly Regimental Competition.
- to make sure that the idea of what it means to be part of the Archers/the Cavalry/the Infantry is maintained and kept up to a high standard.
- to make your members feel proud to be part of your Regiment.
- to be involved in decision making for the Band through the Band's Staff Board
Regarding LoAs and Inactivity
If a permanent Captain-General is inactive for a period of 2 weeks, a first warning will be issued issued. One week after that warning, a second warning (and word being passed to the rest of the Regimental staff to step in unless they have already done so) will be issued, saying that they would be removed in a weeks time. Officially notified LoAs will be fine and exempt the Captain-Generals from this.
If you are interested, please email me at (shen_an_calhar@hotmail.co.uk) saying:
- Your DM handle
- Your Regiment
- Your plans for your Regiment should you be awarded the position of Captain-General
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO PM APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED
The closing date for all applications will be SUNDAY 21ST FEBRUARY 2010.
After this date, the Band's Senior Staff will discuss the applications and offer the job of being a permanent Captain-General to the three members we deem best for each Regiment. Should more than 1 person apply per Regiment, we will forward these names to the new Captain-Generals.
ATTENTION - Raw Recruits: Unfortunately, Raw Recruits CANNOT vote in the polls.
