I'm sure many of you already know this, but at least in the US market (not sure of when it is out in the Euro market), the 1st part of 3 of A Memory of Light, The Gathering Storm, was released yesterday. In hardcover form the book is 766 pages long, quite a lot for 1/3 of the potential one book that Jordan had wanted it to be. To those who have a copy, happy reading! To those who don't yet have it, enjoy the reading when you do get the book!

Most of Europe and Australia/New Zealand got it yesterday too.
I've already finished reading it yesterday and am working on a reread. ;D

and please, if you do read it and want to talk about it, label your thread a spoiler thread! I won't be reading it for at least a year as I don't feel like going through 1/3 of a book then having to wait a year... twice.

You're way ahead of me El Nyn, I'm still in the prologue, but I plan on doing some heavy duty reading tonight and in the next few days. Work kind of gets in the way.
No worries Horn, if I've got any spoilers, I'll make sure to make a warning first. *nods*

If I'm going to talk about the book, I'll more than likely do it in the spoiler forum on DM so no worries from me.

Who knows when I'll get around to reading those (probably not until after they've all come out). I may attempt a bit of a reread of the series over Christmas break though!

Not that I'm looking for a spoiler, but I'm just curious El Nyn. Could you tell the difference between a book fully written by RJ, or did it seem the same to you?

Some bits stick out. There's a couple of parts where you think RJ would never have thought of doing that, but it fits pretty well into it. I think some parts were already written by RJ before his death. This book is a lot faster paced than the last few RJ one's, pretty noticable but not in a bad way. Brandon did a very good job.

That is good to know. I've been wondering myself about some parts of the book as I have progressed through a bit more of it. It is great that the remainder of the series is in good hands.

grrrrr..... I have no self-control and caved! There I was, in my school bookstore, when I beheld a wonderful sight: The Gathering Storm! Drooling over the new book, I impulsively decided to take advantage of a good student discount, and now I'm 34 pages into something worth the long wait...

At least you'll be much happier reading TGS and not waiting. ;D

I'm waiting for the paperback version to go with the rest of my books! I will dip into it now and then when I see it in a bookshop...

It's worth asking him. ;D Corki, just sit in a book store and read a chapter or two when you get time. *shrugs*
