Hello all I'm Alanna, a new recruit here. I'm a college student in Boston, MA, and I love traveling, swimming, reading and writing, and listening to all kinds of music. I have a quick question about my time here as a RR; I know that I can only visit the regiment I'm currently assigned to (I'm with the Cavalry right now), but does that apply to rest the board too? Like, can I not visit the rest of the board as well? (I hope that makes sense ).

ALANNA!!!!! *tacklehugs* Sorry about that, but finally someone else from Mass!! I was the only one for years until I dragged DJ out here from Illinois. We live in Shrewsbury. To answer your question, you can absolutely post around the boards as long as you don't go into the other regiments (which you knew already) So feel free to post in any of the boards outside of the Regimental ones.

Aye, you can feel free to visit the fun and games, review boards, the Hornsounder boards and all those while you're a RR, except as you said, the other regiments while you're a recruit.
Who are some of your favorite authors and bands or musicians?

LOL that’s kind of funny, because when Brid mentioned Shrewsbury, the one in England came to mind first *g* I lived in London when I was a kid. And I actually won’t be in Mass much longer - I’m doing my fall semester at an internship program in LA, and then I’m graduating. I love Boston, though Okay, good to know about the posting. So, does that mean I can start earning points while I’m still an RR? Some of my favorite authors (besides RJ, of course) are David Eddings (LOVE him), Terry Brooks, Sharon Shinn, Jennifer Fallon, and Jim Butcher. I also just bought BS’s Elantris and Mistborn, so those are next on my reading list. Favorite band or musicians…I listen to a wife varity of stuff, pretty much anything goes, but some I especially like are Aerosmith, McFly, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sarah McLachlan, The Black Keys, Jump Little Children, and Sugarcult. I’ve also recently gotten into listening to a lot of Japanese artists.

Where abouts in London? I currently live in London, and was a student in the city as well.

I lived just off Finchley Road, kind of near St John's Wood. I went to an international school that was also off Finchley Road, but it was more in the Hampstead area.

Heh, I too have just purchased the Mistborn series, Eddings was good until u realise that all his characters, books are exactly the same just set in different periods and different landscape. Sparhawk and Garion are practically the same people, although Sparhawk is far cooler

Yeah, I have to admit that's completely true about Eddings' books (and yes, Sparhawk is way cooler - Garion annoys me with all his whining ;D). I love his sarcastic humor though; no matter how many times I read his books, they always make me laugh.

I liked Sparhawk, but how he put up with Ehlana is a mystery! There must be something about female characters beginning being annoying - add in Egwene and Elayne. I'm sure there are a few others to add to the list.
I know that area of London reasonably well, considering my university had cricket nets at Lords during the winter. I looked at places on Finchley Road when looking for somewhere to live after uni and before work started, before ending up in Harrow as it was a lot closer! lol!

I used to love David Eddings until he brought the child aspect into it. Loved the first two series. Mallorean and whatever. Trust me I do know, just can't think of the other series name. Then came Athulus, then the latest one with the Gods. Swear the man has something about little kids. *shrugs* Seriously, I mean. Kiss, kiss? Give me a break
LOVE Terry Brooks! I've been reading him again for the 5th time lately.

I guess I've got a lot of reading to do to catch up to you all on those series. LOL, I've never read any Eddings, Brooks or the Mistborn series yet. I've focused more on R.A. Salvatore, RJ, L.E. Modesitt Jr. and GRRM, but Brooks is on my list because Brid suggested it to me for my next series.

If you haven't done so already, try the first Kushiel's trilogy by Jacqueline Carey. I would classify it as adult fantasy.
And for those horse lovers, try the Green Rider series by Kristen Britain. I rate those books very highly.
