Corki stands before the whole Band of the Red Hand in his best dress uniform. His armour, recently polished, shines brightly in the evening sunshine, his cloak fluttering in the wind, and Mr. Ed looking looking his regal best, his katana hanging down from his waist. Corki then begins to shout loudly, so all can hear what he has to say. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Band of the Red Hand, the greatest fighting machine in Randland, whether you are a Raw Recruit or a Captain-General, I am extremely delighted to welcome you here tonight for the third awards ceremony that is known as The Matrims. Tonight, we honour those with these prestigious awards to those whom we think have put a lot into this ORG, this community, making what the Band of the Red Hand is today - a close-knit unit of men and women willing to stand beside next each other in a scrap, in a battle, in drinking, in being merry, in life. Loud roars of agreement were heard from the assembled crowd of Banders. Corki raises his hands and the Band quietened down. 2007 has been a very successful year for the Band, even if we have had a few fights during a busy year. But these are most definitely cancelled out by the highs and jubilations that have occured. The Band has strengthened its position as the 2nd biggest ORG at DM, and keeps going from strength to strength. And it you, the people of this ORG, that make this happen. Sadly, we saw many old Banders move on - a double Matrim winner in Leane, Cadsuane to name but a few. But they will go down in Band lore, and they shall live on in our memories. One day, they will hopefully will return, as we hope about many of our M.I.A. comrades. So, grab your Brew, and let's raise a toast! To fallen comrades! Banders grab their mugs and steins, and raise them in the air, with a load shout of "To fallen comrades!" echoing around the woods. Every Bander takes a swig of their beloved Brew. Corki again raises his arms, and a hush settles over the crowd. It is now time to move onto the awards. There have been a few extra awards added this year in order to recognise new avenues that have opened up in the ORG! Awards range from Best Trickster of the Year to Best ORG Member of the Year, from Best Gamer to Best Regimental Member. However, if you haven't won an award, do not fear! In my eyes, you all deserve awards for making the Band of the Red Hand what it is today - a very successful ORG and community within DM. More cheering is heard from the Band. Corki silences the crowd by raising his arms. So, without further a-do, grab your Brews, take your seat and let us begin the awards ceremony! The first award tonight is The Best Trickster of 2007. Which Band member played the best trick, do you think? Who has been summoned before the Redarms the most for their tricks and pranks?? Many names were put forward, including Steel Axe and his antics, Footman and Froix for his M-G Brew stealing antics. However, like last year, 2 Banders stood out in your eyes as the best tricksters. The first winner is from the Infantry Regiment, and has been an Empy Award winner in 2006 as the Silliest Member at DM. He has continued these antics here in the Band, as well as the other ORGs he is in at DM. You probably know who this is now... The second winner is a bit of a surprise in my eyes, but obviously not to you. Whenever I check in the Cavalry Regiment, I do see his name appear a lot in association with trouble, so maybe it is no surprise he has won this award. But I must say he does seem to dodge the Redarms...maybe he has friends in highest places... So, you have probably worked out who it is, so I am pleased to announce the joint winners of The Best Trickster of 2007 as... Corki opens an envelope, and pulls out a piece of paper. 12th Regiment and Dicetosser1!!! Loads of cheering is heard from the Band as the 2 Banders make their way to Corki. Corki shakes their hands, gives them their Silver Trophy, their medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

Once the 2 Banders had collected their awards, Corki raised his arms, and the Band became silent once again. Now we move onto a new award for 2007. Since Raw Recruits are an integral part of this ORG as we grow, a lot of hard work is put in by those members who are elected as Regimental Liaison Officers to keep these Raw Recruits out of trouble. You all do a fantastic job, and are a great benefit to this ORG. Therefore, as ORG Leader, I give you my thanks for the great job you all do, and may you keep it up. Corki raises his mug, which is now full of Brew again. To all Regimental Liaison Officers! The Band followed up the toast, and drank heartily!Taymist will be along soon to announce who are the individual bi-monthly award winners, but I am now going to announce the overall winner, as voted by you RLOs and past Raw Recruits. This person puts a lot of work in for her Regiment, especially when they went through a tough patch. She made sure all Recruits got tasks, were kept busy and kept the Executive Officer up to date with their progress. She is a true champion for her Regiment, and knowing her, she won't really want to accept the Award as she thinks others are more worthy. But in the eyes of your comrades, you are deserving of this award. I know I have now given it away, but the first ever winner of The Matrim for Best Regimental Liaison Officer of the Year is... Corki opened the envelope that was in his hands...Morrigan Blackthorn!!! Loads of cheering and yelling is heard from all the Banders as Morrigan walks up to the stage to collect her Silver Trophy, her medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

After Morrigan had collected her award, Corki put his finger to his lips and the Band became silent. We are only 2 awards into this ceremony, so please save yourself for later on! Now, it is time to move onto Best Redarm of 2007. So, which Redarm did you fear when you broke the law? Who didn't let any criminals sleep as they racked up the most lawbreakers? Who should the Band be wary of when the Redarms are on the prawl, looking for wrong do-ers? A list of Redarms was given, and from this list, Auld Manriva received recognition for his service as Redarm Leader over the last few months, and Zeth for his work as a Redarm in recent months. And we can't forget Odette, who always had fun punishments when she caught criminals. However, there was one clear winner. Having been an honourable mention last year, he has gone one better this year. I have lost count the number of months he has served as a Redarm, but he does his job with duty and corruptness, two assets key to the job. He is always watching you, and you are never safe when he is on the beat. This person has done a wonderful job this year, and may he keep it up in the months ahead! Anyway, without further delay, I am pleased to announce the winner of The Best Redarm of 2007 as... Corki opens an envelope, and pulls out a piece of paper. Steel Axe!!!!!! Loads of clapping and whistling are heard from the Band as Steel Axe makes his way up to Corki on the stage. Corki shakes his hand firmly, gives him his Silver Trophy, his medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

Waving his hands once Steel Axe had collected his award, the Band went silent as Corki moved onto the fourth award of the night. The next award has changed for 2007. We now move onto The Gamer of 2007. The winner of this award is the Bander who has the best record in the ORG Game over the year. All fights earn points, with a victory picking up 2 points, while a loss loses you 1 point. It's a highly competitive world out their in the Arena. From the results table found here, you can see that Froix, Tay and myself had a good year, while our new ORG Game Leader, Auld Manriva had a late charge to try and topple the eventual winner. And before announcing the winner, I want to wish Manriva and his team the best of luck for 2008 as they spread the Game amongst the Band. Corki raises his stein again, and another toast is greeted by the Band of the Red Hand ORG.But the winner had gained his lead early in the year, and remained there. He is a fearsome fighter, and someone who Banders fear when they enter the Arena. He is the person everyone wants to beat. When his luck is in, he is unstoppable. But his luck is in more than it is less! You probably know who it is, but when I say he was a triple Matrim winner last year, you'll definitely know who it is. Therefore, the winner of The Best Gamer of 2007... Corki collects the envelope, lifting the seal and pulls out the piece of paper with the name of the winner.Footman!!!! Cries of joy were heard from the Band as the loveable rogue that was Footman walked up to collect yet another award to add to his already bulging trophy cabinet. Corki shakes his hand, gives him his Silver Trophy, his medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

After Footman had collected his award, Corki had trouble bringing order to the Band, but eventually managed. Now the 5th Award of this pleasant evening. We remain with the ORG Game, and the renamed Matrim for who you think was the best gamer, The Gamers' Gamer of 2007. Honourable mentions go to Footman and Uasal Arach for their spirit in the Arena. But there are two winners for this award, who have both showed great courage in the Arena as well humour and fun in their posts which bring a smile to everyone's lips. The ORG Game is all about fun, and giving you the chance to let your mind flow and imagine what you would be doing to save your skin or bash your opponent. And according to you, these two Banders epitomized this. Whether it be in the Festival of Games during the year, or when they have faces each other, there has always been entertainment. And therefore, the two winners of The Gamers' Gamer of 2007 are... The Marshal-General opens the envelope and pulls out a card with two names on it.Auld Manriva and Taymist!!!! Loud cheering echoes around the stage, and Brew mugs and steins go high into the air as Auld Manriva and Taymist approach the stage to receive a Silver Trophy each, a medal each and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew each.

Order was quickly restored quickly after the collection of the awards for Best Gamer. Now, ladies and gentlemen, we move onto the Regimental Winners. The winners of each Regiments were voted by Regimental members. The winner of the awards were those Members who were thought to have put a lot of effert into their Regiment, pushing it forward, making the Regiment what it is today. I will deal with the Archers first. After a tricky 2007, the last few months have shown great promise in the Regiment, and 2008 looks a very good year for this Regiment. 3 names were put forward for this award, with both Jeannaisais and Amavia getting honourable mentions for the work they have put in to get the Archers to where they are now. They have both been recently honoured for this work, so congratulations to you two again. However, the winner of The Best Archer of 2007 is someone who has been in the Band for some time. They've been present throughout the ups and downs of the Archers, but they have stuck with it. Apart from offering a lot to the Archers, the winner offers much to the Band with brilliant artwork, which amazes everyone. But having won a Matrim already tonight for her work with Recruits, it is this that has led this person to picking up their second Matrim Award. Therefore, the winner of The Best Archer of 2007 is... Corki opens the envelope, looks down at the name on the piece of paper and reads it out load. Morrigan Blackthorn!!!!! Loads of cheering is heard from the Band as Morrigan makes her way to Corki to collect her second award. Corki kisses her cheek, gives her her Silver Trophy, her medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

Having collected her award, Morrigan returns to her place in the crowd, which goes silent as the Marshal-General continues. Now, the second Regiment is the Cavalry. The Cavalry has gone from strength to strength this year, with many Knights and Ladies swelling their numbers as their new members progress through their prestigious Knight and Squire programme. Special mentions go to Auld Manriva, Twinflower and Uasal Arach for their continued hard work and support throughout the year. Another mention goes to Direwolf Jon for setting up the very popular Cavalry Joust. But all this proved fruitless as one name swept to victory. The winner of The Best Cavalry Member of 2007 has capped a fantastic December with an announcement of her engagement to a Bander as well as with a promotion to a Senior Staff position. While with the Cavalry, she has lead with skill and made all recruits feel very welcomed to the Regiment when acting as an RLO. Her brushes with the law, especially over M-G Brew, make her what a true member of the Cavalry should be like! Therefore, the winner of The Best Cavalry Member of 2007 is... Corki pulls out another envelope, and opens it, looking at the name on the sheet of paper inside. BridMorgan!!!!! Loads of cheering is heard from the Band as BridMorgan makes her way to the stage and Corki. Corki kisses her cheek, gives her her Silver Trophy, her medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

Once BridMorgan had collected her award, the crowd goes silent as the Marshal-General waves his hands.Last, and by no means least, the last Regiment is the Infantry. What a great year it has been for the Infantry! They may get mocked by being called "infants", but their fighting spirit proves otherwise! They are a bunch of loveable rogues, with many characters amongst their numbers. This has drawn many new recruits to their ranks, and 2007 has seen a rise in numbers, as well as the number of Blademasters that the Band has. Members who deserve a mention include Footman, Taymist and Demonspawn, who have all helped the Infantry out over the year with much of the work that has put the Regiment where it is now. However, Footman's flair, Taymist's tenacity and Demonspawn's devilishness aren't enough for them to win this award! Instead, the winner of The Best Infantry Member of 2007 falls to someone who is very feisty, representing the true spirit of a member of the Infantry. She is constantly nagging me (with good reasons most of the time), and has proven her leadership skills both in this ORG and another. She is loyal, she is a fighter - skills you want from an Infantrywoman. Therefore, I am pleased to announce The Best Infantry Member of 2007 is... Corki opens yet another envelope, and pulls out a piece of paper. Mystica!!!!! Loads of cheering is heard from the Band as Mystica makes her way to the stage. Corki kisses her cheek, gives her her Silver Trophy, her medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

Once Mystica had collected her award, the crowd goes silent as the Marshal-General waves his hands. Now, we are entering the final strecth. It is time to move onto The Funniest Band Member of 2007. Which Band Member has made you laugh the most and splattered your keyboard with any form of liquid? Who always cracks you up with laughter with their posts, whether you are happy or sad? There are many names you get honourable mentions. Well done to Direwolf Jon and his firework antics, and Froix for his attempts at gaining M-G Brew. Steel Axe, Auld Manriva and Dicetosser complete nominations in the Cavalry Regiment, while Straith and Demonspawn are names from the Infantry. However, the winner of The Funniest Band Member of 2007 is someone who has too many awards already. He was the winner by a country mile, as well as winning this award last year. Sadly, he isn't amongst us at the moment, but I do plan to drag him out so he can collect this award again. Therefore, you can probably guess who the winner is! So, with no more delays, the winner of The Funniest Band Member of 2007 is... Corki just throws the envelope over his shoulder. Footman!!!! Loads of cheering is heard from the Band as Footman makes his way to Corki for yet another award. Corki shakes his hand, gives him his Silver Trophy, his medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

Once Footman has collected his second award, the crowd goes silent as the Marshal-General waves his hands.Just 2 awards left, and these are the big two. First, the winner of Best Regiment of the Year award is to be announced. There was a slight change to the Regimental Competitions in2007, as they were changed to bi-monthly. Over the year, various competitions were contested. The quality of competing was fantastic all year round, and credit goes to you for participating! In 3rd place, with 10 points, it is the Archers, who had a pretty difficult year, so well done for keep working when numbers were against you. A sterling effort! In 2nd place, it is the Infantry, who gained 20 points. You battled hard with the Cavalry throughout the year, but just didn't quite have it. Maybe next year... Throughout the year, the teamwork and strength in depth saw this Regiment end up as the winners of The Best Regiment of the Year with a total of 26 points, and claim bragging rights for the year. However, with the competitions for 2008 starting soon, will they be able to maintain such a high standard?? Therefore, the winners of The Best Regiment of 2007 is... Corki opens the envelope and reads out the name on the sheet of paper. The Cavalry!!!! Would Direwolf Jon, the current Captain-General, like to come and collect the award for his Regiment?? Loads of cheering is heard from the Band as Direwold Jon makes his way onto the stage with Corki. Corki shakes his hand, gives him a Silver Trophy, a medal and several Kegs of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew to share amongst his Regiment.

Once Direwold Jon has collected the award for his Regiment, the crowd goes silent as the Marshal-General waves his hands. Now, we come onto the last award of all. This is the main award of the evening, of the ORG. This award is for The Best Band Member of 2007. The winner of this award is a Member who has put the most effert into the Band as an ORG, helping it get to its successful position of today. To me, you are all winners of this award, as each Band Member does that, no matter how often they post! Before I announce the winner, there are several names that need mentioning. Firstly, there is F Horn of Valere, our recently retired Under-Commander. Having put a lot of effort in over the last year with ideas and making sure your points are done, he is a great nomination. Mystica, who runs The Hornsounder also gets an honourable mention for the time she puts in to make sure everything ticks. There is also Auld Manriva, who has done a brilliant job of keeping the Redarms in order, and is now preparing to do the same with the ORG Game. Other names mentioned include BridMorgan, Direwolf Jon and Dragonlover. Yet again, there was a clear winner this year. This member has done so much for the Band throughout the year. She seems to have had a finger in several pies over the year, whether it is helping out Recruits as Executive Offcer, or getting her hands dirty to make sure the ORG Game functions properly. She has served as Captain-General of her Regiment, the Infantry. And now, she has risen to the rank of Under-Commader. And then there are all the other things she does across DM! As I commented somewhere, I do wonder if she does actually sleep... If you haven't worked out who The Best Band Member of 2007 is, you need a good beating! Therefore, The Best Band Member of 2007 is... Corki takes the last envelope, and opens it up. He looks at the name, and smiles as he announces the winner. Taymist!!!!! Loads of cheering is heard from the Band as Taymist makes her way to the stage and Corki. Corki kisses her cheek, gives her her Silver Trophy, her medal and a Mug of Marshal-General's Special Battle Brew.

Once Taymist had collected her award, the crowd goes silent as the Marshal-General waves his hands.Ladies and Gentlemen of the Band of the Red Hand, thank you very much for turning up for tonight's Matrim's award celebration, honouring and praising everyone who has been a Band Member throughout the year of 2007. It has been a brilliant year, and I have had a great time with the honour of leading you guys and lasses. 2007 has been a special year as we have made strides forward, and the year has left many good memories. May we take those memories forward with us into 2008 and life, and remember the friends we have made here at the Band of the Red Hand. No matter how big an ORG we get, we must remember the friendships we have made, as well as letting others into that friendship. That will make us a stronger and better ORG, and make us an example to the rest of DM. Also, as we get ever larger, we must always think of ways to keep the Band fun, to keep old Members interested, to get new members to join, to be the best ORG at DM! Loud cheering is heard from the assembled Band 2007 was a brilliant year, but 2008 will be even better! I have much in store for us to make sure that is the case! A few things to finish on. Firstly, The Emperor Awards will be coming up at DM again shortly. I am really hoping we do well at them this year like we did last year, showing DM what a great ORG we are! Secondly, CARAI AN SHEN AN CALHAR!!! And finally, now that all the formalities are done, it is time to celebrate the year that was 2007 - the memories, the award winners and their acceptance speeches, the Members of the Band, 2008 and how it is going to be a bigger and better year! Anything and everything! So, lets celebrate as only the Band can celebrate! And there is an endless supply of Brew! And that includes M-G Brew! Until I say it has run out! Corki grabs his Brew and makes a toast.CARAI AN SHEN AN CALHAR!!!! The Marshal-General opens his gullet and downs his Brew!

First off, I'd like to offer my congratulations to all of the Matrim winners this year. Each of them went to very deserving recipients. Special mention from me, has to go to Morrigan as Best RLO. As Corki said, she won't think she should get this but she served an incredible 8 months as RLO for the Archers last year, picking up a Regimental Award for her work along the way. Rather than feeling it was time for a rest, she's picked up that mantle yet again and is RLO for this term. Morrigan, I salute you... that's just sterling work and fantastic commitment both to the RRs and your Regiment. Very well done, you deserve both of your Matrims. *hugs* I am of course delighted to see our wonderful Footy walk off with more medals... if I didn't know just how genuine a guy he is, I'd be tempted to think he was fixing the voting. Congrats hun. Good to know my keyboard is safe for a little while though lol. For myself, thank you. It's a real honour to be given the Matrim for Best Band Member, especially considering the stature of the two previous recipients. The Band has become my home over the past year and a half and it holds a very special place in my heart. Most of the work I do here is fun rather than a chore so to be rewarded for it is just a bonus. A very special bonus coming as it does from the Banders themselves. I'm truly very touched by it and will endeavour to continue in the same vein in the role of Under Commander. Anything that helps the Band to grow and flourish is worthwhile, as it is a brilliant place full of wonderful people and friends. Thank you again.... and may I just add.... I got a kiss from the MG *preens* ;D and Horn didn't last year... I reckon that gives me bragging rights lmao *snuggles all her bandeds, her adopted and her Souvra* * tricksy puppy* Almost a clean sweep for the family this year It's like being part of the mafia #laughing-smiley-014# CARAI AN SHEN AN CALHAR !!! HERE'S TO AN EVEN BETTER 2008 !! *wanders off to make inroads into the MG Brew before Froix appears*
