Hey people, I know I haven't been on here in a loooong time. But I remember that a good bit of y'all are from the UK. Well, I'm being stationed at Lakenheath RAF. Anyone from that area? My family and I should be there around July-ish.
I know nothing about the UK, I know that Lakenheath is in Suffolk county, and thats about it. Oh well, it'll be fun!
Later on.

Oh please! Keep in mind that to Americans distances in the UK seem pretty darn short. I think that Scotland would be about as far away from Suffolk as New York would be from South Carolina! Maybe a little bit closer. Would make a nice weekend excursion! Just to put things in perspective for ya.

lol it's about 4 and a half hours by train from Edinburgh to London with the new high speed connection but yeah, the drive is long. It's not one we'd do by choice.

wow thats it only a 6-10hr drive?...hell I have done that with friends to get to other end of Wisconsin for weekend fun lol. Yea got to remember here in US we are used to 2-4hr drives to get to places, thats like normal for us and that amount of time is like crossing one end of the city to anouther lol. So to go to Scottland and vist over the weekend...yea if under 13-16hr drive...its short....I have done the 14hr drive straight thou once lol.

Yes, we appreciate distances are different there but here, that's a long journey that people aren't generally prepared to do particularly given the cost of petrol. Unless they're going away on holiday for a week and even then we'd probably take the train as it's faster. Besides... why would anyone want to go to England? ;D

lol if you think that is long, try driving from Oregon to Georgia... 50 hours on the road! At least we didn't do it all nonstop...
A3M0N.. you are being stationed? What branch? Or are you DoD Civilian?

I wanna go to England! lol! And the longest drive I've been on was 12 hours...Kansas City MO to San Antonio...it was for a band trip and we had to stop every three hours and we all had to get off the bus no matter what....even if we had finally fallen asleep

It's not so bad... long as you stay out of Liverpool... and East London... and Brighton... and Coventry...
Basically, go to north and central London, Manchester, the Cotswolds, and Lancashire. Maybe Portsmouth.
