I pioneered a thesis on why The Velvet Underground were the best American band ever. I can't reproduce it, though, as it involved incredible amounts of Stella.

this is not really related to this....but i just watched the final of masterchef on iplayer....SO AWESOME!! just wow..generally...im not lying when i say i cried all the way through it!! it was so SO good!!! and no its not JUST cookery program....its...indescribably good!! and now im going to be grinning for the rest of the afternoon!! just.....WOWOWOOWWOWWOW!!!

No, I would have found some usefullness in my school years....but now, if it doesn't pertain to my job or my family.....I can't spend too much time on it.

So lets hear some votes for a thread of boring lectures, it will be a great time, trust me (only if you are an enginerd or the like such as me and then you would read it) Hey, its something new, I really think we should have one. But only for people who are somewhat proficient in what they are going to lecture about.

i dont think thats really necessary....part of the fun of the discussion would be dispelling common myths about the subject. if people want to spout random wrong information to someone who had studied the subject for years, then the person who has studied the subject will be able to correct the other, then someone else who has also studied it would challenge them etc
