Warriors of the Band! We all know how much the Band of the Red Hand loves a good tale to go along with their Brew. To this end, The Orders of the Cavalrys' Knights have been challenged to write a poem of not less than three verses to see just which ones should be called The Cavalrys' Bards....
Here are those three poems written by the members of The Orders of Sarmatians, Arthurians and Templars... We would ask you, The Archers and Infantry to judge for us which one is the best of the lot. Though each is, in my opinion excellent, there is going to be that one that strikes a chord with each of you... Please do us the honor of voting for your favorite
Entry Number One
Come gather round one and all
Come gather, hear the Riders' call
To hear a tale of heroic deeds
Their fight for Justice on their steeds
Never the like will you elsewhere see
Before the charge, enemies turn to flee
They cower small before the might
Before the wrath of the Warrior Knight
Always the first into the fray
Raging battle till the end of day
Enemies of truth they all will face
And leave of them not a single trace
Powerful, brave, fearless and true
To stand before them you will rue
The call of the battle in their veins
Hands rock steady on their reins
Of braver Warriors you'll never hear
As they cause evil to feel real fear
They're always there to make a stand
That's the Cavalry of the Band!
Entry Number Two
M~G Corki, he said to the band
We've been told of a scourge on this land
Seems we're up to our bollocks
In half men and trollocs
Folks cry out for the Red Hand Band.
So the Cavalry rushed out to the stable.
And made ready, just as quick as they'er able
Then they climbed on their mounts
And they left amid shouts
And so begins the rest of our fable.
They rode hard over hill and down dale
Over mountains and thru misty green vales
With grim faces they went
And with most foul intent
The Shadowspawn they would force to turn tail.
The Caba'drin thundered over the land
With streaming banners that bore the Red Hand
And as the Horsemen passed
Small folk followed en masse
Their spirits raised, they would help make a stand.
Every mind knew there was battle ahead
But no heart quailed, though filled with dread
It was time to stand tall
Was no time to feel small
With the Horsemen thoughts of cowardice fled.
The horde of trollocs were finally spied.
There were thousands it could not be denied
The Archers arrows did fly
The Infants charged with war cries
The Cavalry split and assaulted both sides.
The Cavalry thundered in from both ends.
They cut down half men and other dark friends
Arrows fell down like rain
Swords and axes dealt pain
To their maker, Shadowspawn they did send
The Band and its Cavalry that day
Did prevail in that horrendous fray
The Shadowspawn lay heaped
LIke wheat thats been reaped.
And the fires set to them, burned for days
Now this tale of the Cavalry ends here
But more stories will come never fear
But for now they'll be found
Where good drink does abound
And songs, laughter, tales and good cheer.
Entry Number Three
There's a legend sometimes told
Cavalry knights in times of old
Skill and might to fight a battle
Victory won from a leather saddle
Into battle brave knights ride
Cowardly foes soon run and hide
Through the land stories spread
Enemy generals know true dread
Darkfriends hear the battle cries
as the cavalry host top the rise
Weapons and armor shine in the sun
well trained horses start to run
A powerful charge breaks the foe
Warhorse and lance to lay them low
At the end another battle is won
The fight is over, but never done
Next day will bring another fight
Perhaps a journey into the blight
Battle never ends for a Knight
Always there to defend the light.
