Welcome to the Band of the Red Hand! I am Direwolf Jon (DJ), the Band's Executive Officer and one of the three Senior Staff members. I am in charge of settling you into the Band and processing you into the system.
In the Band, we have three regiments: the Infantry, the Archers and the Cavalry. Eventually, you will chose which Regiment you wish to join.
To aid you in making your choice, we have created what we call the Raw Recruit Program. You will be spending one week with each Regiment, doing tasks for them and interacting with various members. If you complete all of your tasks in each Regiment, you will also earn the Raw Recruit Stripe, an award given upon completion.
To find out where to go next, just be sure to visit the thread labeled LOOK HERE SECOND. All you have to do in that thread is post that you are here and I will edit the post to reflect your Assignment Schedule with the different Regiments. Your time with your first Regiment will begin the day after I give you your Assignment Schedule.
While in the Raw Recruit Program, you will be assisted by Regimental Liaison Officers, or RLOs. Each Regiment has two RLOs to assist you. Also, while assigned to a Regiment, Recruits are not authorized to visit the other Regiment's boards. For example: If Bill is in the Cavalry for a week, he is not allowed to visit the Archer or Infantry boards during that one week.
After you have posted in the Assignment thread and after I have assigned you your Regimental dates, make sure and visit the thread which includes LOOK HERE THIRD in its title. This will show you where you need to go to report for duty.
Something else you should know about is the thread informing you about the Laws of the Band. The main thing to know is that Channeling and spilling brew are not allowed in the Band and that as a Raw Recruit you will be given three free strikes before being punished for any minor crimes! (A list of beverages officially recognized by the Band as "brew" is in the rules thread.)
A few other things ...
If you have any questions, visit the FAQ Thread in this board first. If that does not answer your question, ask your RLO. You may also ask the question in the FAQ thread and I will PM you an answer and possibly add it to the FAQ thread.
Included in the FAQ thread is information on what to do if you need time away for a while. Please review this if you plan on being gone for more than a couple of days.
ONE LAST THING you should know before you go. In the event that a Recruit goes missing and comes back at a later point, the Recruit then starts over in the Recruit Program. Missing is defined as not completing any tasks for two Regiments in a row or not signing into your assigned Regiment. If a Recruit goes missing a second time, then he/she is automatically advanced to the rank of Private and chooses a Regiment, informing me via PM.
It may sound complicated but if you give it a chance I am sure you will find it will be quite fun! Again, welcome to the Band and good luck on your time as a Raw Recruit!
