It would appear that our current crop of daringly risque and pinup sigs are about to go the way of Dinosaurs, Great Auks, Pet Rocks and other extinct species. This saddens me to the core of my being. The scope of this devastatingly bad news only just hit me, when I happened upon KaraJ's request for a new sig... *extremely heavy sigh and hangdog expression* I don't know about the rest of you swabs (not including most of you swabettes) but I'm not sure it's going to be worth rising each morning any longer. Maybe .. possibly... I can find reason to continue drawing breath, though the likely hood of that is remote at best. If no one hears from me, I have gone to The Great Reward, and will return when my money or strength runs out.............. A baby's gotta do, what a baby's gotta do. Oh.... NOT THAT!! The Great Reward is over in Pascagoula, Mississippi and is open from Noon till Midnite.... Just ring the bell and stand in front of the peep hole... Jeez!

you know i have no idea what you just said.....i understand the first bit with the pacman pic...and the second bit....the third bit just baffles me and the entire thing baffles me even more as if there was talk (yes i know about the discussion in the cav board...) about getting rid of these sigs (which seems a bit extreme...no worse than you see on a beach anyway) then surely it would be in the staff board? so if its not serious....why??
or am i totally missing the point?
im confused...

*laughs* yes you're totally missing the point ;D there's no talk about getting rid of them. The Cav thread was just a joke by Sam. Bro on the other hand enjoys wandering around drooling over Kara's current sig as do most of them men lmao and he's quite devestated that she's getting rid of it. Then again, he hasn't seen the new one yet ;D... as to the last bit, he's referring to a ...umm... house of ill repute I believe lmao.

*raises eyebrow* this is so inappropriate and i cant reply like i want to either....all i can say is if men get....hmmm yes....over that sig then i will never look at a man on a beach with a load of women in bikinis and topless ever again.
i actually have a great aunt who reputedly ran a "house of ill repute"...

But in the Ancient Greek world, all women cared about was sex and alcohol...

uh huh....and who WROTE the history of the greeks....MEN...what-a-surprise...talk about biased...i expect women were more concerned about what their bone headed blokes were doing and happily influencing their policies...as the saying goes "behind every great man there is a woman". kinda tells you something doesn't it?

A. Should I go sexist and say, "Yes! Behind every great man is a woman, exactly where she should be, three steps behind and quiet"?
B. Or should I say, "Some men are more able to control their basest urges and have evolved beyond oogling women and exploiting them as simple objects of lust"?
C. Or (my personal favorite), "Men are idiots, and women are evil"?
Survey says: C
And in my humble oppinion, it isn't what or how much a woman shows, but how she shows it!

Now, this is where you are wrong. This view of women caring for nothing else but sex and alcohol comes from Greek comedy, and not history. But before you say it is the view of men, just look at the poetry of Sappho, the famous poetess of Lesbos. I know it is one small example, but maybe there is some truth in the view that all women cared about was sex and alcohol.

erm....LESBOS! you told me they were lesbians and if gemmel is anything to go by they did nothing there anyway so of course on an island of lesbians sex and alcohol would be the only interest considering there probably wasnt alot else to do apart from write poetry about it...

*shakes head*
You obviously were not listening. A person, whether male or female, who comes from the island of Lesbos is considered a Lesbian (i.e. a native of the island of Lesbos). The reason why women in a female-female relationship are called Lesbians is because of Sappho and the nature of her poetry. From the fragments we have, they relate to her feelings to other women. I am of the understanding some are quite saucy.
And if you are trying to find ways to make women innocent in having "dirty" thoughts, I feel you are barking up the wrong tree. I am fairly sure women have equally "dirty" thoughts about men. So I am pretty sure Greek comics, like Aristophanes, were probably telling some of the truth, if not more, about women back then. And the fact that women dressed in a provocative manner then to stimulate their husbands/men (read Lysistrata for evidence) shows that things haven't changed much in nearly 2,500 years.

So if it was an island of men and women they would have something else to do besides sex and drinking? Because they were all woman they would only want to write poetry about sex, have sex and drink? Wow...lesbians must have the best life if that is all they do! And yes Corki, I know there were men and women...just making a point.

Holey Makkal Andy!!!
Po li'l ol' me was just bemoaning the certain loss due to gettin a new one of a right fine signature and exaggerating the lengths I was about to throw myself into to ease the pain of said loss. Trying of course to remain within our boundaries though approaching them so close as to get a slight shock from the electric fence. ;D
Certainly didnt intend to create controversy. I will of course support my Bro's selection of C in his ad hoc survey. Many times the anticipation of an impending event is as mind blowing as the actual event itself.
As men are visually and tactilely stimulated animals (primarily). We do have a tendency to imagining that which is hidden suggestively. With the additional tactile stimulation kicking in at about the same time; our fingers tend to twitch if only noticeable to ourselves and unseen to others (those of us with any control whatsoever). This tendency towards bestial behaviour may be one reason for the daughters of Sappho to have eschewed male companionship, though many other reasons likely have as much if not more to do with it.
I'm no scholar, far from it, but sexual practice among the ancient greeks was far from our social constraints and square pegs in square holes attitudes today. I'm not so sure we can compare ourselves to the ancients. There are those who do, but to me it's useless woolgathering.
Basically my original post was me exaggerating for comedic effect. Although that image on the late lamented siggy is a classic of mens fantastical imaginations. Albeit with an expectation of...... well ...whatever, after the domination part has ended, unless the male is just a pure T whacko!!
