Clean you cache people. I had trouble with DM for a long time before I did this regularly. I visit DM at work and at home and never have trouble getting DM to load and I check it quite often throughout the day.

It's worth a shot if it's not something people do often certainly. DM loads fine for me, it just takes a century to change pages and it's definitely not my pc.

I understand their reasoning to have us all at DM, but I also perfectly understand to keep our own seperate boards, especially when you consider the loading/server factors at DM. That was part of my reason for not showing up much over the summer....I could rarely get on. While it has gotten somewhat better, I still have issues wth it from time to time.
But, to be honest, I think it'll be a good thing for everyone to be at DM in the long run.
I just don't get the sudden requirement....of course, I'm a bit behind on everything considering my summer break, which means I should probably read through the beginning of this thread.....
Oh, and speaking of DM being slow, it gave me issues earlier with posting and actually loading the page, and I was using (still am using) my parents couploe month old laptop.

Strange, but I'm using a 2 year old laptop computer, and I've never had a problem with DM. Don't go over there all that much, so maybe that explains it. It seems to me though, that if there are that many people still having issues with it even after all the server upgrades, etc, that requiring all off site's to move to DM just dosn't seem right. I see no problem with having the off sites, especially since even with the o-s boards there's still plenty of band activity at DM.

Not to mention, how would the band's boards be set up over there compared to the setup we have here? I started wondering about that earlier.....
Although, the laptop does have vista on it and I think vista keeps doing funky things....like causing hardrives to crash (happened to my dad and my boyfriend), so that may actually have been the computer considering it usually works just fine on my like 10 year old upgraded computer in my room.

Yeah I am having lag problems on the band boards today.
The decision to move all boards to DM is not "all of a sudden"...well unless you count a year's notice "all of a sudden". This has been talked about and in the works for a long time. The WT moved to DM about 6 months ago. Jason and the admins just recently put a date to have all boards over to DM as they want to have everything completed by EOY.

Correction, the WT is still in the process of moving to DM. And that started end of July beginning of August, not 6 months ago. Most of the Ajahs have stopped posting in their offsite boards, but several are not officially closed yet.
And this move wasn't known for over a year by everyone. That it's been talked about with Org Leaders maybe or several individuals doesn't count as an 'everyone knew it' as everyone did not know it. Even Org Leaders didn't know it.

A year's notice is all fine and dandy, as long as more than five people know about it.

Yeah, and I am one of the ORG Leaders who didn't know. As mentioned several times, I've been Staff 2+ years now, and never known about the consolidation until I got back from holiday (well, I did find out while on holiday.
Now to answer Jea's question...
A lot depends on how the trial with the proboard-to-SMF converter goes. If it works well, there shouldn't be too many problems with the layout. It will hopefully be the same as here (all posts as well), but we'll probably tweak it a bitas SMF does allow sub-boards within sub-boards and thus make everything tidier.
That, and whether the server can cope, are probably are two biggest concerns at the moment.

I figured it would probably have a lot to do with that, but just wanted to ask and be sure.
I won't say anything about when people were notified considering I really only figured out what was going on a few weeks ago.....

I may have exaggerated the time frame... but it has been discussed for quite some time now. At least since August (which feels like 6 months ago *g*). Visiting the BOTRH offsite boards, I can see what kind of nightmare you guys have with a move but I really think in the long run it will be worthwhile. If people get out of their negative mindset and focus on solutions it may be more beneficial. It is totally not impossible for the move to happen if we all put our minds to it.
I went back and checked the staff board. The first moves were on July 26th where Kat commented that the WT was in the process and any one else that was ready could get started. The Aiel, Illuminators and Kin also started their moves within a few days of that post.
Oh... still looking back. We actually first started entertaining the idea of a move starting March 13th when the staff had a big discussion about how to improve DM (it was even a post Corki started *g*).

Empy, does your pm work on DM? just a question... as it seems you are either missing some or don't get noticed you have new ones because I don't think you are ignoring my and other people's pm's on purpose

I have already replied to Arragon's PM and plan to get to yours soonish. I am just a little slow on the replies.... sometimes I read them and decide to reply later when I have more time... then forget they are there *g*. I am not intentionally ignoring anyone.
